Proposal: Agribiz Park @ Lor Halus

Overview

The Lor Halus site will be converted into an agricultural technology business park, which will include research, manufacturing and retail facilities. It will be a regional hub showcasing the potential of agrotechnology, as well as a lifestyle revolving around it. This will fully realize the ideal of 'healthy land, healthy people'.

Rationale

Food security is a pressing problem in both the global and local context. Hence, there is a need for the development. Lorong Halus is a previous landfill site, hence it is not easy to construct buildings on it.

Concept

3 layers:

· Primary layer: research and development of agricultural technologies – for export of technology to regional neighbours, also ensures Singapore is at the forefront of food security

· Secondary layer: manufacturing of plants and agriculture in high-tech way – demonstrates the potential of research

· Tertiary layer: engaging people – allow people to lead healthy lifestyles and showcase the future agrotechnology can bring
